Dal movimento delle madri e delle famiglie dei migranti tunisini dispersi, una lettera video a Giusi Nicolini, sindaco di Lampedusa, in cui le famiglie le chiedono di sostenere il loro appello all’Unione europea per l’istituzione di una Commissione d’inchiesta del Parlamento europeo sulla sorte dei loro figli.
«Noi esigiamo i vostri saperi» era l’appello che le madri e le famiglie tunisine avevano rivolto all’Ue, nello scorso mese di marzo, dopo due anni di manifestazioni e sit-in per le strade di Tunisi, per conoscere la verità. «Chiediamo ora all’Unione europea di rendere conto sino in fondo di quanto è successo», si leggeva nel testo dell’appello, «sappiamo che quel tratto di mare è continuamente osservato dagli innumerevoli mezzi tecnologici che l’Unione europea con i suoi stati membri e la sua agenzia Frontex dispiega tra le due sponde del Mediterraneo per il controllo delle migrazioni. Radar, satelliti, motovedette, aerei, elicotteri, e, dopo l’arrivo, impronte digitali. Sappiamo che tutte queste informazioni vengono archiviate. Sappiamo che oltre ai mezzi dell’Unione europea ci sono anche quelli della Nato. Chiediamo dunque all’Unione europea la formazione di una commissione per metterci a disposizione i suoi saperi, con la partecipazione dei governi italiano e tunisino in quanto stati coinvolti».
A video-letter addressed by the mothers and the families of the missing Tunisian migrants to the mayor of Lampedusa:
Dear Giusi Nicolini,
We are the mothers and the families of the missing Tunisian migrants. Our sons disappeared trying to get to Italy and to Europe. But the politics of the European Union do not allow to our sons to travel freely.
We have been searched for the truth for long time. Some of our sons left in September 2010, many others immediately after the revolution in 2011; but among us there are also relatives of the shipwreck of the 6th September 2012. We are many, 250, 300, 400 families.
Mrs Giusi Nicolini, you are the mayor of the island of Lampedusa, and we know that you addressed the European Union to demand to stop the tragedy of the shipwrecks, of the disappearances (at sea) and of the deaths in the Mediterranean. We too have written a petition to demand a court of inquiry of the European Parliament (investigating) on what happened to our sons: it could answer to many of our questions, concerning their journey, since it is known that the Mediterranean is a very monitored sea.
Could you help us and support our demand towards the MEPs and the Italian deputies? It is for two years now that we demand to take our grief seriously; but neither the Tunisian government, nor the Italian government, nor the European Union consider that the life of our sons and our grief are relevant things. Now we address you to ask your help, but we also ask if in the European Parliament there are deputies who are politically sensitive and wiling to engage in for engaging with our request for a board of inquiry
